Sound familiar?
You have kept a lovely home for years. But lately, a few jobs have started to feel a lot bigger than they used to.
If that sounds like you, you are not alone, and it is nothing to feel embarrassed about. Getting help with the heavy cleaning is not giving up your independence. It is one of the smartest ways to keep it.
A safer home
This is the part we care about most. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospital stays for Canadian seniors. Their report estimates that 20% to 30% of seniors fall each year, and that half of the falls that led to a hospital stay happened at home.
A lot of everyday cleaning jobs are exactly the risky ones: climbing a step stool to dust, leaning over a wet tub, or carrying a heavy vacuum on the stairs. Letting someone else do those jobs means fewer chances to slip.
And a regularly cleaned home simply has fewer hazards in it: clear walkways, dry bathroom floors and no sticky spills in the kitchen.
Simple safety habits: keep walkways clear of cords and clutter, wipe up spills right away, use a non-slip mat in the tub, and add night lights between the bedroom and bathroom. We take care to leave walkways clear and floors dry before we go.
How we help
You tell us what has become difficult, and we focus there. Here is what we usually take care of:
Just ask: things like changing bed sheets, inside the fridge or oven, or inside windows can often be added. Mention them on the quote form and we will let you know.

Why seniors and families choose us
For sons, daughters and caregivers
If you live away, or you are already stretched between work and family, it can be hard to know when a parent needs a hand. A few gentle signs to look out for:
Talk about it as freeing up their time and energy, not as something they can no longer do. "What if someone did the heavy jobs so you can enjoy your garden?" goes down far better than "You cannot manage any more."
Start small. A single deep clean, or one bathroom and kitchen visit a month, is often all it takes for a parent to see how much easier life feels.
You can book for them and handle the details by text. Just let us know who we will be meeting at the door.
Helpful to know
If budget is a worry, these programs may help some seniors. Check each one directly, as rules and funding can change.
Better at Home is a non-medical home support program for seniors 65 and over. In Vernon it is run by NexusBC Community Resource Centre and managed by United Way BC. Services include light housekeeping, with fees on a sliding scale based on income.
Eligible veterans, and some survivors, can get yearly tax-free funding for home services like housekeeping through the Veterans Independence Program from Veterans Affairs Canada. Check with Veterans Affairs Canada to see whether you qualify and how to use it.

Downsizing or moving?
We can help at both ends. Our move-in and move-out cleaning gets your old home spotless for the new owners or landlord, and your new place fresh before your things arrive. If the house has not had a thorough clean in a while, a deep clean is a great place to start before switching to regular house cleaning.
