Moving out of a rental? BC's official tenancy guideline also expects tenants to clean inside the oven, defrost and clean the fridge, and clean window tracks. We can add these to your clean. The BC Residential Tenancy Branch says tenants are responsible for cleaning the unit when they move out.
You are not responsible for normal wear and tear, or for cleaning to a higher standard than the law requires.
Take part in the move-out condition inspection. Skipping it can affect getting your deposit back.
Once the tenancy ends and your landlord has your forwarding address in writing, they generally have 15 days to return the deposit or apply to keep some of it.
